About Ormskirk
Ormskirk is a vibrant market town in the heart of the Northwest of England, just a 10‑minute walk from our campus. It’s a lively, student‑friendly town with a mix of independent shops, well‑known supermarkets, restaurants, welcoming bars and takeaways, all set against a backdrop of rich heritage and fascinating history.
Twice a week (on Thursdays and Saturdays) the town hosts a market, where more than 100 stalls line the pedestrianised streets at its centre.
Beyond the town itself, Ormskirk is surrounded by beautiful nature reserves and picturesque villages. Visitors can wander through quaint streets, explore peaceful green spaces, or head out into the West Lancashire countryside to spot local wildlife.
There’s also lots of local restaurants, cafés, gastro pubs, and well known chains to choose from, and a few Michelin Star restaurants in neighbouring Aughton.
The Sefton Coast is also within easy reach of campus. Stretching for 22 miles, it offers a blend of natural sandy beaches, dramatic dune systems and traditional seaside towns.
Highlights along the coast include the red squirrel reserve at Formby, Anthony Gormley’s Another Place sculptures at Crosby Beach, and the classic seaside charm of Southport.
